Can You Bring a Dog to The Dwellings near Zion?

The Dwellings

Yes, but only in the dog units. The Dwellings is mostly pet-free. Pet friendly tiny homes Utah guests can book are Units 1, 7, 9, and 12. Every other dwelling is no-dog.

That is the rule people need before they reserve. Pet friendly rentals near Zion National Park are easy to misread. A photo of a patio is not a yes. If the unit is not one of those four, do not arrive with a dog and hope the desk can move you.

The fee is $75 per pet. An undisclosed pet, or a pet booked into a non-pet unit, can be charged up to $250. Tell the desk at check-in. Only dogs are allowed. The full rule set is on the pet-friendly page.

The Dwellings pet policy, without the fine print maze

The property sits at 452 South State Street in La Verkin. It is a small resort of standalone tiny homes, not a shared lodge. Most of those homes are pet-free so other guests are not sharing patios and the pool with dogs.

Dogs are welcome only in Units 1, 7, 9, and 12. Those units have a private backyard. Pets are not allowed in other units or in the pool.

You must book one of those units. You must tell the staff at the front desk. You pick up after the dog and use the waste bags on site. The dog stays on a leash outside the unit. It does not go on the furniture or bedding. If you leave the dog in the dwelling, it needs to be in a crate. The Dwellings does not provide a crate.

Service animals and emotional support animals are still booked into a designated pet unit, under the property’s current rule. If that does not match your trip, call (435) 525-2441 before you pay. House rules are also on rental policies.

Which tiny homes allow dogs

Do not book On the Edge, Stunning View, Incredible View, or Shocking View Stackers if a dog is coming. Those are not the dog units.

The pet-friendly dwelling pages are Amazing View and Best View Ever. Amazing View is about 400 square feet, with vaulted ceilings. Best View Ever is about 400 square feet, with sunset views. Both are couples-sized king units, not the bunk-loft family dwelling.

Before you publish or book, confirm with reservations that Amazing View and Best View Ever are the same homes as Units 1, 7, 9, and 12. The unit number on the reservation is what the desk will enforce.

La Verkin pet friendly lodging at The Dwellings is those units only. A “tiny home near Zion” search result is not a promise that every dwelling takes a dog.

Dog friendly vacation rentals near Zion vs the park rules

A yes at the lodging is not a yes inside Zion National Park. Those are different rules.

Pets are not allowed on most Zion trails, in the wilderness, on the canyon shuttle, or in the Virgin River. The park’s own pet page is the one to trust: NPS Zion. The practical trail most dog owners use is the paved Pa’rus Trail. It is not a substitute for Angels Landing, The Narrows, or the shuttle canyon.

So the trip shape is: dog stays in the pet unit or with a sitter while you hike the canyon, then you walk the dog on leash at the property or on the one trail that allows pets. A packing note for that split day is in visiting a park with your pet. Park timing that does not involve the dog is on Zion info.

If someone told you the dog can ride the shuttle and do every hike, that is wrong. Plan the hike day and the dog day as two different things.

What a dog stay actually feels like

You park at the unit. The dog uses the private backyard, not the pool and not a neighbor’s patio. You are in La Verkin, about 25 minutes from Zion’s south entrance and about 20 minutes from St. George. Directions are on the directions page.

The dwelling still has a kitchenette, a bathroom, heating and air, and a patio. The dog does not get the bed. You bring the crate if you will leave the dog inside while you hike. You bring waste bags even though the property has some on site.

Heat matters. Southern Utah summers are hard on paws and on dogs left in cars. Do not leave a dog in the vehicle. Do not plan a midday canyon walk for the dog. Morning and evening outside, canyon time for the people, crate or a booked sitter for the hours you are on a no-pet trail.

Pet friendly cabins near Zion National Park often advertise the dog and skip the park rule. This stay is only a fit if you are fine with that split.

Tiny homes that allow dogs in Utah, and the ones that do not

Tiny homes that allow dogs in Utah are a smaller set than the ads suggest. At The Dwellings the set is four unit numbers. Booking any other dwelling with a dog is how the $250 undisclosed-pet charge shows up.

If you need a bunk loft for kids and a dog, ask reservations before you assume Shocking View Stackers can take both. On the current rule, it cannot. A couple with one dog fits Amazing View or Best View Ever. A family of five with a dog needs a different plan, or a different property.

Questions that are not about the dog itself are on the FAQ. If the answer there ever disagrees with this page, trust the pet-friendly page and call. The desk number is (435) 525-2441.

How to book the dog unit without a surprise

  1. Choose Unit 1, 7, 9, or 12 only.
  2. Say the dog is coming when you reserve, not at the door.
  3. Budget $75 per pet.
  4. Bring a crate if the dog will be alone in the unit.
  5. Read the park pet rules the night before a hike.

Direct booking is at room book. Multi-night stays booked direct are 10% off two nights, 15% off three nights, and 20% off four or more. A dog fee is separate from that discount. Offers are on promotions.

Statewide trip notes, not pet rules, are on Visit Utah.

Why stay at The Dwellings

The Dwellings at River Rock is locally owned. Each dwelling has its own front door, a kitchenette, and a patio or backyard. You are not in a shared hotel hallway. Zion’s south entrance is about 25 minutes. Zion Canyon Hot Springs is across the street, for the people in the group. The property received a TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Award in 2024.

The reason to stay here with a dog is the private backyard and a clear unit list, not a promise that Zion is a dog park. If that trade works, book the dog unit. If you need every trail to allow the dog, this is the wrong park, not the wrong tiny home.
